Because its California! Also because needles is in the middle of CA's "where the heck is that???" land. Since i have moved out of Nor Cal (out of state) i have classified certain sections of Cal as exactly that, because thats the only response i get when people ask where i am from

The simple reason for high fuel prices is that the EPA wont allow the refineries to be built. People tend to think we get all our oil from the middle east...not so most 46 % comes from canada. Its the refining process that is so expensive. CA says a lot on the east coast its 40 to 50 cent cheaper.

Because there are not enough gas refineries in California. Environmentalists do not allow building any power plant in California.
