I guess what you are getting at how do you deal with a nicotine fit when you can't smoke for a while.
whenever i take a plane ride where i definitely can't, i bring some nicotine gum with me. It's kind of expensive but well worth it. you can pick some up at any walgreen's, Think i used nicorette.
I know, I know it's actually for quitting smoking but it's handy to have and a pack lasts a long time particularly if you use it just for fending off fits. get the high nic content one.
The kind i used tasted nasty tho. chew it with an altoid or two.

i don't smoke, but my 2nd cousin used to, when he had a nicotine fight, he'd take a cigarette out of his pocket and argue w/ it...i know, he sounds crazy...but it worked (i'm not saying quit smoking or anything, its just how he got rid of the nicotine fit)

chew gum, or do something with your habds, doodle, most of the habit lies in the whole hand to mouth thing
