Which do you think is a more popular series with the biggest fanbase or players. I say Final Fantasy, he says Madden NFL.

I'm not sure which one has sold more, but I would definitely say that Final Fantasy is better. But, I'm a geek. : D

My personal feeling is Madden although I am a Fantasy Fanatic. There are many many more people who wish they could catch a pass from Manning in the Super Bowl than wishing the could wield a sword, kill a big monster, and save the world.
I don't know numbers on Final Fantasy, but Madden 07 it projected to sell 5.3 million copies I believe. On a side note: John Madden makes about $1.50 per game. which means he is making about $7 M just from this years game. This is greater than his $5 M broadcasting gig.
I know Game Faqs last month did a bracket poll for best game franchise ever. Final Fantasy lost in the finals to The Legend of Zelda. Madden lost out in the first round when it was paired against Super Mario Bros. So, the people would say FF>NFL.

Final Fantasy by far. There have been many more games out, movies, action figures, and other kinds of merchandise. Don't get me wrong, Madden is a great game, but people buy it just to get the newest version, I mean you know what you are buying, they aren't going to surprise you by adding a new team or anything. People wait for the new FF for the new storyline, characters, graphics and everthing else that comes with the FF legacy. Final Fantasy definitly beats out Madden.

Madden's latest incarnation is expected to sell between 5 and 6 million copies. This is pretty average along the trendline for past releases of the title. Compare that to the last four major Final Fantasy titles (I don't count spinoffs, remakes, or the MMORPG XI)
Final Fantasy VII -8.7 million copies sold
Final Fantasy VIII - 7.4 million copies
Final Fantasy IX - 7.9 million copies
Final Fantasy X - 7 million copies
Given that this data is a little old, I would expect the numbers for X to be higher today (VII, VIII, and IX are out of print). Probably around 8-8.5 million.
In sheer sales data, Final Fantasy beats Madden. In terms of fan base, Final Fantasy beats Madden. In terms of just about everything, Final Fantasy beats Madden :) It should be safe to go to your boyfriend and tell him you've won the argument!

The Final Fantasy games. The Final Fantasy games have a cult following. They have tons of games in the series, two movies, action figures, maybe more.
The Madden games are just enjoyed by jocks.

Definitely Final Fantasy! I mean, just search the internet for Final Fantasy and I'll bet you'll come back with a million hits! Furthermore, RPG/ fantasy games are definitely more popular than sport games!

Talking all merchandise, I think final fantasy would win.
Does Madden have a movie, action figures, clothing & accessories, not to mention all the other merchandising? Didn't think so.
If there was, I don't think people would buy as much stuff for Madden as they do for final fantasy.
If we were talking just game sales, then what month, or a total of all.

Final Fantasy! Are you kidding me? Final Fantasy has been around longer, has fans all around the world, and most people that play video games know about it and think it's a good game/series.
Madden is only for sports freaks that play video games.

madden nfl may be popular in the us, but the rest of the planet is playing final fantasy.
Not many people outside the US understand american football.
