it really amazes me how many people who have been pierced for years, know piercers etc will give such terrible advice. DO NOT put neosporin on a piercing, do not use betadine, bactine, alcohol etc...read the label people-not for use on puncture wounds-a piercing is a puncture! neosporin will suffocate it, bactine and the like are harsh. It is possible the hard area is an infection-I wouldn't know without seeing it (go to a piercing studio and ask them for help, doctors dont understand how a piercing heals) or it could be the fistula if it's a tiny spot, this is the hole where the piercing sits. Infections in cartilage-yes nostrils are cartilage-is particularly unlpleasant as there is less blood flow to help it heal- Healing with a ring is going to create a curved fistula so there will be discomfort when changed to a straight post but it shouldn't last that long, you may be having a reaction to the metals in the cheap jewelry, or possibly the plating is leaching into your skin. best advice head to a professional as soon as possible. In the mean time do sea salt soaks 2x a day to help the area drain and heal-try to heal, might be a good idea to put the original ring back in since you seem to have no reaction to it.

why would you get a stud from claires and put it in there?? that's what happens when you buy crap at the mall, shoulda went back to the tattoo shop and got some 316 stainless steel jewelry which you probably wouldn't react to. i've worked in tattoo shops for about 15 years and I don't understand the whole piercing thing, just seems creepy to me. if I were you i'd go ask a creepy piercer what you should do, you might be getting a keloid or some other creepy piercing related ailment. better yet, take that nasty thing out and be done with the whole unnecessary problem. :)

did u have it pierced with a gun or needle?
put the ring back in and start cleaning it as when u first got it pierced
and the hard thing around the hole is normal, u want that so the hole remains, even later on when u no longer want it(if that day comes) that cone will always b there - its a form of scar tissue

Yes, yes, yes, yes. And put Neosporin on it. And when you re-pierce, dab a bit of astringent on it every night. And never use a Claire's stud again, because they use cheap-@$$ metal. Surgical stainless or gold *only*!

there are two things to do here (I've been pierced everywhere for years) one is to use beta dine this stuff works cause sometimes they just get infected. the other would be yes remove it and use your old earring.the new , stuff you may just be allergic to. if it is made of what you were using then try titanium, or stainless steel
good luck

It's craziness! My industrial (that's a bar in the ear) is infected too! I hate it! I don't know what you would do with a nose though, I soak in sea salt and water...try to keep from touching it, keep make up off it, and don't pick at it!!
Good luck!

Get to an emergency room quick! The blood vessels in your nose go directly to your brain. I'm not joking. If your peircing is infected it could harm you seriously.

go to the people who pierced it and ask them. They probably know what's happening. I think a doctor would just tell you to take it out. Good luck!

Your mucus will fill the ring hole and it will break down your skin until half your nose decayed.
