Hephaestus to the Greeks, Vulcan to the Romans.
They are the gods of fire because they preside over the forge. They are also the gods of tool making and weapon forging.

Prometheus is not the God of Fire; he is the one who stole fire from the gods to give to man.

ARES is the Greek God of War; MARS is the Roman God of War.

Vulcan, in Roman mythology, is the son of Jupiter and Juno, husband of Venus, and father of Caeculus. He was god of fire and volcanoes, and the manufacturer of art, arms, iron, and armor for gods and heroes. Vulcan's analogue in Greek mythology is the god Hephaestus. He is also called Mulciber ("softener") in Roman mythology and Sethlans in Etruscan mythology.

hephaestus is the god of the forge, but that's not the exact same thing of being the god of fire. one could argue that apollo was the god of fire, as god of the sun. i suspect you're looking for the TITAN - a sort of earlier god - who brought fire to man, stealing it from the stingy gods. his name was prometheus. check the dictionary definitions of the names, to be certain.

encyclopedia brittanica: "Prometheus: In Greek religion, one of the Titans and a god of fire.".

AND/OR

answers.com: "He·phaes·tus (hĭ-fĕs'təs) pronunciation
n. Greek Mythology.

The god of fire and metalworking."

take your pick.

Hephaestus, son of Hera, also the god of blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy.
Romans know him as Vulcan (and btw, doesn't have pointy ears)
