If you liked the supernatural aspects of A Certain Slant of Light you might enjoy reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. It is set in India/England in the 1890s. A sixteen year old girl discovers she has great potential in doing/learning magic and visiting other realms. There is a very minor plot with a gypsy she is attracted to and fantasizes about...but no romance develops. There is a sequel that I haven't read yet though so it might eventually go somewhere.

My favorite YA *romances* are primarily written by Sarah Dessen because I love the way she develops the relationships over time and builds them on their unique characteristics as individuals.

Have you read the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld? It's a combination adventure/romance...

I've read that book...I thought it was ok.(It felt like the romance was to forced) but anyways you might like "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. It's about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. Usually I don't like vampire/romance novels But this one was really. You would probably really like it.
