Between a Lexmark 16 inkjet cartridge and a 17. Same question applies to the 26 and 27. Does one have more ink, or is it just Lexmark's way of screwing me over?

I'd have to look at those exact cartridges to tell you for sure, but in general manufacturers have a small capacity, cheap version of their black and color cartidges. They put those cartidges in the printer when it is new, so you will buy new cartridges sooner.

17/27 are considered "moderate use" cartridges, they have less ink in them and therefore yield less prints. They also cost less. All inkjet printers are the manufacturer's way of screwing you over, the slow nickel-and-dime way.

There slight differences in the way the Ink is used but the Main reason is to get your $ and make look dumb so you buy the so called better version because informed Coustomers spend less money.
Take care!
