Like Superman. There have been several TV programs, cartoons, and movies about superman. Then you get some chanel like A&E or Discovery Channel, where some jerk tries to explain why Superman can't exist, becaue of a variety of scientific facts.
Why don't they do the same about Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse?

Let us have our fantasies.

WE KNOW SUPERMAN ISN'T REAL.

So, let us please enjoy the fantasy that he is.

And how many people believe in talking rabbits or mice? Yet, who complains of Bugs Bunny or Mickey and Minnie Mouse?
Hmmmm?
No one is attacking those fantasies.

i agree with you totally! i have a cousin that likes to over analyze everything in life, partiucularly movies. it really ruins the moment, not to mention your imagination. life would be really dull if we didn't have a little fantasy every now and then. :-)

I don't know. Maybe they oppose fantasy. But them so called scientists are likely wrong. What doesn't exist in this era, or life time, might in another era or life time.

Nothing wrong with fantasy movies.

But if you really want an audience to suspend disbelief you can't do something SO utterly outrageous where you have people saying Bullsh*t, and rolling their eyes while they're watching it.

So many movies break this rule that it's extremely difficult for some people to really enjoy the movie without rolling their eyes and making wisecracks about the movie.

I believe they are trying to match our fantansies with the reality by producing those TV programs. I do not think they are doing it on purpose, I mean they do not want to make our lives miserable...they are just trying to buid a bridge. Some people might get lost in their fantasies and start daydreaming without stopping it.

I'm OK with pure fantasy, but it has to conform to it's own logic. Some movies change the rules in the middle, that's just crummy writing.

Because we haven't learned to suspend our disbelief. Is it better to hang it or place it on a pedestal made of unicorn horn?
