It doesn't seem to make sense. I heard someone loudly professing their viewpoints on these issues in an elevator. Any ideas?

Sorry ro rile. . . I Just asked because the fundament of Pro Life is that life is precious and it is not up to us to decide whether another Life should die. At the base it is still Life that is being exerminated at the hands of people.

thanks for the answers. . . i'm not sure yet of my stance on Cap. Pun. and this is a question i keep coming back to. . . i understand the surface reasons of innocence and guilt and that babies and serial killers and rapists are (of course) different. my question leads more to the root of the two issues. isn't it still us making the final judgement? and what qualifies us for making that judgment?

Yes, you can. It doesn't take a big mind to figure it out. You're pro-death when you murder babies, and you're pro-death if you think serial killers should be given a free-ride for life.

Pro-life is for the protection of the innocent whether it be a baby or society. Protecting mass murderers is left up to the culture of death (the left).

Hope that helps!

Sure, its hypocritical in a way and these are obviously contradictory ideas if you see both scenarios has a lose of life. it would make more sense to either value all life or place judgment. But their are also many people who are pro-abortion and are against capital punishment. So i think if someone was pro-life and for capital punishment then their view might be that it is more important to give the innocent a chance. And take away the life of people that have had a chance. but their are no clean cut answers in these world, excuse the pun.

Yes, they are not inconsistent at all when looked at from the right (right?) perspective.

In both cases, the people believe that life-or-death decisions should be made by the government, not by the individual. So, anti-choice advocates says the government makes all decisions about who can have an abortion and/or who can get or remain pregnant. Just like those who support capitol punishment believe that only the govt is qualified to determine who should be killed.

In both cases, the goal is to have the govt making the decision, based on the principle that the govt believes the person will choose wrong if the choice is left up to them.

Yes

Pro life is believing in Life beginiing at conseption and being against killing that child even while it is still in the womb just because it is not born yet.

Capital Punishment is Punishing someone for an awful crime involving murder even though they know the punishment for the murder they commit will involve an eye for an eye or there death for the awful, usually coldhearted, and brutal murder/or murders they committe. If a person knows they may be put to death for the crime they are about to do then they are making a choice.

A helpless baby has no choice with abortion.

If you take a life, then your life should be taken as punishment.
Serial killers give up their rights when they take a life. Serial killers deserve to die. Innocent babies deserve to live. Very simple common sense!!!!

Only the "left" believe in protecting sick ppl like rapists, murders and so on!!!! Very sick rationale, indeed!!

I don't really understand the opposite spectrum although I consider myself more of a liberal.

I don't get pro-choice, but anti-death penalty. Why is it ok to abort an embryo but no ok to put a murderer to death?

I guess I am in the middle. I'm pro-choice but also pro-death penalty, although I feel there should be reforms to make that system better with fewer mistakes.

There are pro-life and there are pro-cp.
On the other hand, can you be pro-choice and anti-war at the same time?

There's been very notorious events of a serious pro life advocate being accused of personally executing a doctor that performs abortions, violence against staff, etc, so it does seem to be possible to have a dual set of values.

Yes you can and yes I am. These are two completely different topics... One, pro-life, you are talking about murdering an innocent human being. The other, capital punishment, you are punishing someone for murdering someone else.

Damn skippy. Innocent babies do nothing wrong to deserve having an ice-pick punched into the back of their skulls. Violent killers which include men who rape children then kill them deserve nothing more than a painful death. Do away with lethal injection and bring back the chair!
