what country would you want them to be from, and why?

Ok, most of the answers seem to be missing the point. Assume this purely hypothetical deployment is a done deal, they're coming. And if it would matter to your answer, say that they were here to combat election fraud, a not entirely unreasonable scenario.

Well, I suppose my answer would depend on why the UN is sending a peacekeeping force unto US territory in the first place!

But assuming arguendo that such a force was needed, I suppose it would have to be composed of troops from countries that are similar to the United States, in terms of language and culture (the United Kingdom and Australia come to mind).

Certainly peacekeepers from China or from a country in the Middle East would not be a good idea. That's an international incident just waiting to happen.

Australia and Canada. We'll supply the beers of their choice, combine all three styles of football and forget why they were here in the first place. The Brits would be welcomed too.

It would really depend on what the forces were here to do. If it was aid because of a natural disaster, then fine, but actually we wouldn't have a choice on who the U.N. Security Council sent.

I do not care, so long as they stop asking us to send troops to other countries for them. Well - stay away from the Middle East countries - they are trying to kill us.

That would be a waste of time because they could not be very effective here. When things get that bad no outside force will be much help.

Wouldn't happen... not on my watch. The U.N. is an abomination of what it was intended to be.
