You know, someone you didn't think would benefit the team, but actually did good. I'm personally thinking of Eltan Brand (or is it Elton). He did good getting more points on the board and he had good rebonds.

I don't think Elton Brand is a suprise at all. He's always been a beast on the boards and was an MVP candidate this last season.

The guy who really surprised me has been Carmelo Anthony. The knock on him has always been that he's not much of a team player, but if you ask me he's doing everything right and really stepping up as a leader of this team. He's moving without the ball and taking high percentage shots. I love DWade, but I'd love it if he could do some more of that rather than try to go one-on-one so much of the time.

Elton Brand (but this shouldn't be a surprise)
The best player in the NBA last year

I would say it's a toss up. Hienrich is definately surprising me to be playing all these minutes and scoring about 10 ppg. Along side these players, he shouldn't even get playing time let alon 10 ppg. Also, Carmelo Anthony is a beast! 35 points tonight against Italy. That ties a reord set by Kenny Anderson in 1990. Also tying him in field goals made w/ 13. He carried the U.S. tonight along w/ Dwyane Wade. All I can say is good luck tomorrow w/ Senegal...like we'll need it.

I have to say either Carmello Anthony or Shane Battier. Who would have known that team USA winning largely depends on Carmello's performance over other players like Lebron an dwade. And Battier, you can stick him against the other team's best player and he slows him down. Also he has been good at forcong and taking charges.

hey, elton brand is good! anyway, for me.....its chris bosh. i didn't think that he would do such a great job versus Senegal. he even outscored lbj, melo and d-wade. well...maybe i just underestimated him. GO USA!

I think Chris Paul. He has a crazy assist to turnover ratio.
