As a child growing up in NJ, I liked the TV shows "Magic Garden" and "Wonderama with Bob McAlister." Magic Garden played solely on a local NY station, while Wonderama only had a few outlets. I also liked an old cartoon called "Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse."

I'm not sure I remember the names of many movies that would count as obscure--they're mainly old. But one was "Fantastic Planet," a weird French 1970s film where giant creatures kept humans as pets--sort of a reverse Planet of the Apes, if I recall correctly. I guess "My Bodyguard" is getting near obscurity, but I liked it; it may have been Joan Cusack's first role.

There was a TV show briefly on I think ABC called "Jennifer Slept Here" starring Ann Jillian. I thought it was a pretty good show, but it did not last very long.

Movie---Remo Williams:The Adventure Begins was a great movie. It really didn't get recognized until it went to video. It was a popular rental, they the made it a TV show for a little while.

I grew up in NJ too and the Magic Garden Ruled. Do you remember Romper Room or something to that effect where the woman would talk into a round shaped thing and say goodbye to you.. I LOVED that!! Oh, and Mystery Science Theatre Kicked ****! Oh and the Bodyguard, with Ruth Gordan as the grandmother, she also rocked!

My Bodyguard was a good one. Another is the original MEATBALLS. I think it is only available on tape not disc. But don't even try meatballs2 or 3 or gosh I hope there isn't a 4. The first one though is really good especially if you have ever been to camp as a camper or counselor.

I liked a TV soap (I think it was) It was called 'Dark Shadows' and a show in California only was called 'Creature Features' it was a different scary movie every weekend. That show had a host named Bob Wilkins who was an unusual kinda guy. I wrote him once and he wrote me back. I was so impressed with him!
