I took up tutorin two kids, a brother and sis recently. I am teaching them English. Considerin the fact tt I am tertiary student I dont hve many tips as to how to teach these young 8yr olds prper sentence construction or speech skills. Dey r foreigners, so although eager to learn, dey r shy wen it comes to talkin and expressing deir thoughts and reluctant to speak up.
I sincerely want to help dem to improve, any fun ideas, since dey r pretty young, to help dem to speak more in Eng and improve grammar?

Alright...Just so that I am clear on one point...The short forms for the spellings were used purely for convenience:)

Really appreciate the suggestions so far:)

Teach them to spell like you do! I don't think you should be teaching them English Grammar.

One thing I would get some videos like "School House Rock". It is both entertaining and informative for kids.

Tell them some raunchy personals stories. That'll get them to pay attention!

Try playing games that require them to interact with you, and eventually they will open up to you and be more responsive. I would recommend word games.
