Well, I leaked colostrum from the time I was 7 months pregnant. But the actual milk doesn't come in until a few days later.

It can depend on a variety of different factors. Your body should be producing 'enough' fluid for the newborn, immediately after it's birth, but, technically, it isn't 'really' classified as 'milk', yet. It is called "colostrum", it lasts for the first few days, and is sufficient enough, with all the nutrients, and antibodies(etc) that the newborn needs. So, within, those first few days, the baby is nursing, receiving the colostrum, and 'helping' your body to produce 'your' milk. Once, the milk, begins to 'come-in', you'll definitely, be able to tell the difference. The milk is 'delivered' in two parts. The first part, or the Foremilk, is kind of (*like skim milk) lower in fat content, higher in water content. It is able to satisfy the baby's thirst. As the baby continues to nurse, then the Hindmilk, is 'delivered'. It is more like (*whole fat milk) higher in fat content, sweeter, and higher in calories. The more (and longer) the baby nurses, the better for the baby, and mom. The baby recieves all the combinations of both milks and the mom doesn't have to suffer (*become engorged).

Mine came in 2 days after the baby was born. I took a nap, and when I woke up it was in.

After the baby is born you will have colostrum for a few days. Then you milk will drop. The colostrum is very healthy for the baby and has all kinds of antibodies from you. You will feel when your milk drop. You will get a tingling sensation in your breast when it happens

Mine came in the day after I had my son. So, when you pack for the hospital, make sure to pack a snug-fitting bra ONLY if you don't plan to breastfeed. If you're going to breastfeed, bring nursing bras.
