my little sister was killed by one. she was so innocent, just 8 yrs old. it was a month until her birthday and she was so excited. we were driving down the road and a truck got on our side. by the time it was over i started looking everywhere for her and she was no where in sight. then we finally found her, the truck hit so hard that she flew from our vehicle to theirs, back to ours then on the ground, the impact was so hard it knocked her shoes off. she was singing Jesus loves me when it happened. i will never forget the man that murdered my baby sister. he has ruined my who families life. she never did anything wrong to anyone and this idiot of a man decided to drive drunk, and because of him, she is gone. now all i have is heartbreaking memories of a child so precious, who had a smile you had to see to believe. she is forever on my mind, and in my heart.

Sorry, but the brother in law should rot in jail for a very long time. He should never be able to drive again nor consume alcohol as he should be on probation permanently as should anyone else in this position. His actions were reckless without regard to others lives. Harsh..Yes. Drunk driving should be punished harder upon the first offense especiall it you kill someone. Drunk drivers in Wisconsin get off far too easy on their first offense. Many people drive drunk and simply haven't had that life changing accident...yet! I've been in a vehicle that was hit by a drunk motorcycle driver we knew in our small Illinois town. He was drunk and taking muscle relaxers as well. Can you believe the guy had the balls to come to my Dad who was driving our car at the time, and ask him to sign off on court documents that would allow him to regain his driver's liscense for going to work. Dad told the scumbag no, and he had to wait out his year and a half suspension.
Drunk drivers have lost their respect for other human beings when they get behind the wheel and taunt fate.

My husband is a recovering alcoholic going on 12 years. He told me he never got into an accident but was arrested for drunk driving. After being put in front of the victims impact panel, where family of those killed by drunk drivers got to have their say...he said it changed his thinking and he has been sober since.

I didn't know him then, but I know now it would have killed him to have hurt anyone.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother in law, and sorry for the family. You need to be there for support, but you must never let him think his actions were ok. He will live with it the rest of his life and that will be his sentence, and hopefully....he will choose never to drive drunk again, because unfortunately....there are people who do it again.

My prayers are with all those involved.

Yeah and sadly my brother drove drunk once. He almost died when he hit into a brick wall. His gas tank was so close to going off. The bad thing about it is that I knew about him saying he was going to get drunk that night. Tons of kids in my area have been killed by drunk drivers. It's pretty sad.

wow, i feel your pain. people who drive drunk have serious problems and should get punished. when you take lives that is someone elses family and they didn't deserve to die on someones stupidity. i'm pissed at your brother in law. he knows better. and yes i seen a wreck also. yet one car flipped over the other and she was drunk and killed 4, people. it was bad. landed on top of the other car.

sounds like troll, but anyways, your in laws insurance will defintely drop him like theres no tommrow. after they pay him what they think its payable. He will have a dui, and possibly 3 charges of Vehicular manslaughter, and will probably in prison for at least 10 years. I dont know why people think its smart to drive drunk. Hes only your inlaw, so you dont need to care about someone like him.

That is just awful. What the hell was he thinking?? I'm sorry but there is no reason for that. He should go to jail and lose his license indefinately. That is very sad.

i know that its hard, but just take it one day at a time, and make sure that your brother is feeling alright too. if he goes into depression, it will be a long road back. incidents like this help families realize whats important in life
