Hello Michelle,
just wanted to ask you something. How many times have you been to France? How many French people do you know?
And how on earth can you even think about making such a rude, offensive, and insulting generalization?
Let me tell you this. I have lived in Paris (it's the capital of France, just in case you didn't know) for about two years and I've never made the slightest negative experience with any french I have met. On the contrary, they have all been very friendly, polite, and helpful.
I have also lived in the United States for two years (I'm from Germany, by the way). Here are some of the questions I got asked :
Do Europeans actually already know what electricity is?
Have you in Europe ever heard what happened on Sept. 11, 2001?
EU? What is that? Never heard of it.
You mentioned in your other question that you hate the French. I hope you understand that I do not want to sink down on your standards, but these experiences I made in America would be a good enough reason for A LOT OF europeans to say that they hate the United States, because these questions are what really represent rudeness, ignorance and stupidity! Therefore you should be deeply ashamed of asking such a question!
Thanks for the two points! :-)
Oh yeah, I forgot something. I don't know how some people here get the idea that the French only shower once a week, but it's just another wonderful example of people's disinterest and stupidity towards countries other than your great America!

We could go through life in one or two ways- roughly or smoothly. Actually life is much the same for most of us. There are hopes and joys, disappointments and tragedies, as well as misunderstandings and surprises. Most people have their share of each. One of the basic differences in the way we face life concerns our attitude, whether we prepare for a smooth trip or a rough one.
Often it is the attitude one has and the courtesy he extends to those around him. Courtesy costs nothing and buys everything, a wise person said.
The way I see it is, some people do not behave courteously because they harbor basic hostilities, or they may have grown up in a home where common courtesy was not practiced. Maybe ill health causes them to be rude. Whatever the reason, I don't see being rude as regulated to one culture, such as the French.
Even though, the world would be a much better and happier place to live if people practiced common courtesies to each other.

I don't think they really are rude. It's just some comic thing we don't appreciate, because we don't understand it. They don't really fit the stereotype. Unfortunately, both French and American tourists do seem to include some of the rudest people in the world. They give all the rest of us a bad name.

Why are American's rude? Why are Canadian's rude? Why are the British rude? There are rude people anywhere you go, and there are also people anywhere you go who are not rude. It's kind of rude to suggest that all French people are rude.

They live inside their own funk, and don't realize how bad they smell. Then, when someone calls them on it, they get all weird....the first time one of them smelled it, they invented parfum!
