yes farts are flammable why fart and waste it when you can burp and taste it.

Igniting a fart? Sure you can, get a lovely blue flame when the methane contained in the expelled gas burns.
BTW you need to shave your a** first. One of the consequences is the hair often catches fire too.
It's really fun to watch someone running around with his pants around his ankles and his a** on fire.

Your other question ... I do not know the correct answer. However during the medieval ages, it was encouraged that you fart for fear that holding it in would cause internal damage. (Can you imagine all the farts at a kings banquet!) Recent studies have shown that the gases the fart is made of is natural to our body (its where it orignated from) therefore it is no harm to us if we hold it in.
