I don't have a fever and I'm not coughing so much, but my throat stings when i swallow saliva and my tonsils are swollen. i was told to try gargling listerine, gargling water w/ salt, eating lemons, limes, and oranges, but the pain in my throat keeps coming back as bad as it was before. I've been on cough drops for about a week and now they don't really help soothe my throat like they used to so I've stopped taking them today. I'm also taking Nitetime Cough Medicine and it only works to put me to sleep, but in the morning my throat hurts again and each day it's been worse than the day before. Does anybody know what kind of medicine or recipe i should try to get rid of this wretched illness? Did I mention my throat stings when I pass saliva?! Please help!

Once your tonsils are infected, they remain infected! You need to have them removed.

You need to see doctor rather than asking here. he may prescribe you an antibiotic drug to contrl th infection. As a precaution You need to avoid cold stuff, fatty food, chocolates & dairy products. Take Ginger juice & Honey with cinamon, 2-3 times in a day. Drink lot of fluid that will dilute you cough & make it easier to pass thro'. Hope this helps !

Your throat is probably irritated from sinus drainage. It happens and sometimes we don't realize it, it can also cause your snoring and any breathing problems while sleeping to increase. Ibuprofen is the best thing to take to ease the swelling(tylenol won't help), and you need to probalby see your Doc for a ENT eval.
Good luck!
