I have prepaid. No monthly fees, but the phone is never free, and there are never free minutes (nights, weekends, or holidays) unless you are calling 911. I get 150 minutes for $25, and I've had my phone long enough that my minutes have a 1 year expiration. T-Mobile.

You should take into account coverage. Consider local area and any areas which you may travel to often, or even relocate to.

I have TMobile prepaid. Paid $100 for 1000 minutes, got 1150, thats an extra 150 more and good for a year. Renew before time expires and the remaining balance will roll over. This one does not have free night and weekend minutes but its really good if you are an occasional user or as second phone. Got mine last October, still lots of minutes left.
