most of the people who replied are people who actually have no knowledge of Swastika at all......! Satanic symbol indeed ( where do people come up with such half baked stories ... seriously?)
Swastika is Holiest symbol of Hindus and even Buddhists it represent the wheel of life, Sun, Power and Goodluck ( maybe that's why the stupid Nazi Hitler took the symbol and used it! )
The Symbol was used even before many of the countries were discovered!! it is more than 3000 years old and is a very common symbol in Nordic culture and the Hindus start most of their holy prayers by drawing a sign of Swastika.
It is a very unfortunate thing that people now see Swastika as a symbol of hate and death ( that was misused for about 30 years ) and refuse to learn about the orgin of Swastika which more than 3000 years old. Older than Chritianity!
The Hindu Religious leaders are trying to redeem the Swastika at International arena so that the negativities attached to it goes away and people once again regard it as a Holy symbol.
One more thing Swastika was used by Ancient Chinese, Europeans, Japanese
The 45th Infantry Division in America wore this Symbol very proudly for the first 15 years of their existence ( they wore it as a patch in their lefty shoulder for luck! ) In 1933 after the emergence of Hitler and the unpopularity of Swastika they abandoned the symbol and instead started wearing the Thunderbird insignia from 1939.
Hope this clears your question .... do educate others who think Swastika is a Nazi Symbol! It is still the most revered symbol in South Asia and oriental Countries it is equally holy like the Cross that Christians revere!
Do read more about it in the foll links

The swastika did not originate as a symbol of evil - quite the opposite, in fact; it was a symbol of life. However Hitler and the Nazis appropriated it and, unfortunately, overwhelmed any good symbolism it had with their murderous fanaticism. And that's what it means now. It's a shame, but there is no getting around it. It may have started out as the symbol of good, but to the overwhelming majority of people, it has come to represent something evil.

The Swastika actually has non-evil origons... and I am keen to not be offended by it so quickly. But, many will tkae offense to it simply because it was the Nazi symbol... and it has bad history attatched to it. That said... there are other signs that have had their meanings change over the years. Look at the peace sign... I wonder if anyone is aware that actually started out as the symbol of the upside down cross.
Hmmm...

for you idiots that say that the swastika represents the ruthless nazi regime in germany are WRONG! i view the swastika as a holy symbol because i am buddhist and a lot of hindus also view it is a sacred symbol. the swastika to buddhists and hindus are almost the same as the cross to the people of the book. yes the nazi did use it while they were in power, but that wasn't the true origin of the swastika

The be conscious Swastika became a Sanskrit be conscious that meant sturdy success. the emblem became a Sacred non secular image in Hinduism, Buddhism, & Jansenism in the far East. And through interior sight individuals in the West. previously Hitler took the emblem as a emblem of the Nazi party. And it really is now universal to maximum Westerners as a emblem of Terror & Racism. It became used through some Germanic Nordic Tribes previously Hitler. Which became maximum in all probability why Hitler used it.

the swastika goes far back into Christianity during the persecutions, its a bent cross,it is used in all kinds of medieval artwork,Hitler used it to as a unity symbol to bring Germany together.people in this century see it as a sign of evil because of Hitler, but if you went to the middle ages they worshiped it like toady's cross, funny thing Hitler also had the eagle sign and that symbol is all over American money, your answer is simple.....it is a 20th century symbol that represents death and hatred......

The swastika was actually a Satanic symbol. The Wheel of
Life turned backward, and at a tilt. It was a true symbol, in that
Nazism created more destruction to humanity than anything before.

How old are you, eric? Maybe 2 or 3? Maybe your mommy or daddy is typing this question for you? Or you're so stupid that you really need to ask this question? Or maybe you're just as ugly as the swastika. Whichever way you look at it, you're being ultimately pathetic by this question. God Bless you.

Some people are angered by the color red. Others have a fear of the Red Baron and airplanes in general. Ed Norton sported one in the form of a tatoo in the movie American History X.
