MD pays better.

But to be a nurse, you don't have to be a jerk.

Depends on what you want. Medicine is a lot longer schooling but pays more at the end. Nursing is much shorter schooling, they make good money as well and there is a real shortage for nurses. Either way, you can't go wrong. I would recommend making sure that you know about the field you choose prior to choosing which route, things like hours, days of work, rate of pay, flexibility, uniforms, environment, etc.

There is a huge nursing shortage right now, so it pays well and offers big sign on bonuses. You can also become a nurse practitioner, making lots of $$$, and do many of the things physicians can, w/ less expensive tuition and I think shorter schooling.

I'm not a nurse, but I work around them everyday. It sounds like a nice field, but most of the time they are over worked, under paid and under appreciated by both their patients and the doctors that run around barking orders. If I had the finances, I'd choose medicine.
