Bend over to pick up something off the ground and you'll be sure the fellow will stop at the corner to pick you up next.

While traveling with men, on occasion you will get temporarily lost. It can be frustrating for you to deal with the situation especially if they don't stop and ask directions. I would suggest stopping at convenience stores and gas stations. Leave the corners alone. If he just won't stop, resign yourself to missing the activity at the destination and realize that he must deal with his issue instead.
If you are asking for advice for a prostitute, there is a fine line between overtly soliciting, which you can be arrested for and repelling your customers. Erring on the side of caution, I would start with standing on the corner or near the corner late at night and see what results you get. If you are not stopping traffic, slowly, gradually work your way close to what would be seen as soliciting and stop when your results start to happen. Hopefully it will be before your friend gets arrested.
I don't condone prostitution or any illegal acts.
