Taxonomically it is technically an insectivore, but its behaviour proves otherwise.....I think the SHREW is the coolest carnivore. In particular the short-tailed shrew of eastern North America. It is the only mammal with a venomous bite. The venom produced in its saliva is almost equivalent to that of a cobra. The shrew is a tiny insectivorous mammal, similar in appearance to a rodent, but has the dentition more similar to that of a bat. Shrews must eat the equivalent of their body weight in food each da in order to survive. Teh short-tailed shrew is very successful in killing animals that size using its venomous saliva. Shrews will eat naything from insects all the way up to frogs, small snakes, rodents, and baby birds. The shrews will inflict a deadly bite to the animal and wait for it to die, then they will cart it back to some underground den and feed on it. The reason the shrew must eat so much is based on its metabolism, their heart can beat up to an astonishing 1000 beats per minute. I have done some small mammal trapping before and have caught some shrews in metal traps and have had the "click" sound of the trap door closing behind them actually frighten them to death. They basically have a heart attack and die from the shock.
Shrews are quite primitive and are one of the oldest surviving mammals on earth.

The liger. It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.
