The link below will take you to a cool site that explains cellular resperation in detail with interactive models and quizes, ect. It is very helpful and easy to understand. If for some reason the link doesn't work, go to www.thelifewire.com, pick the book with the lions on it and go to chapter 7. Its the same place. Hope this helps!!

Cellular respiration is the formation of oxgen for organisms (plants it is CO2) in order to make reducing equivalents for the body to use in energy generating/using reactions. By products are water, CO2, and electrons (reducing equivalents. "Animals take in simple sugars and oxygen and release carbon dioxide, water and energy."

The carbon cycle is a general term for the regeneration of carbon skeletons for use in reactions such as the citric acid cycle and glycolysis. "The Carbon Cycle involves three major processes and one minor process: photosynthesis, respiration, combustion and decomposition." In other words, respiration is a part of the global carbon cycle.

Because we take in air so our cells can get oxygen and then we release carbon dioxide. Plants do the opposite.
