Fear of death is the one basic instinct inherent in all living things. It's what keeps us from stepping off cliffs and eating bad-tasting meat.

However, obsessing over one's fear of death is not a good thing.

It is a bad thing if you only dwell on the fact that yes one day you will die. You have to accept death because you can't escape it. That is why people say live life to the fullest and carpie deim, seize the day. realize that death is only a transfer from our earthly life to our eternal life. But being afraid of death is natural because when you think about it people are only really afraid of the unknown. And since no one has come back to tell us what it's like it is the "great unknown". So fear is not a bad thing unless that fear is controling your life.

That is why when one says "when you conquer your fear, then you can conquer death". Being afraid is not a bad thing. And if you believe in GOD, then it proves you are a GOD fearing individual. It is not death that scares you as much as fear of the unknown. This is inherent in everyone regardless of how people try and deny it. Some just handle it better than others. PEACE!

Death is inevitable. You should not fear it as it is something we all face. You must just learn to live every day as it will be your last so that you have no regrets. I learned to stop fearing death at about the age of 12. Prior to that it was constantly on my mind. I don't suggest tempting it, but I have not gone out of my way to avoid it and have lived a fullfilling life. Taking educated risk will make life more interesting.

I think most people can say that they are afraid to die. I'm afraid of HOW I will die, not as much as death itself.

Normal. But being afraid is because this physical life is one of physical gratification and it feels good. To die, well, you don't know where you're going to end up, or what's on that other side. That mystery is scary, yes?

I'd say it's very normal. Fear of death is one of the main reason that propels people to do great, foolish, wonderful, insane, horrible things. I think it's worse to not know you are afraid of death and act out in repetitive ways.

No. This is completely normal. However, it might be better if you try to overcome this fear and accept that all people are m ortal. If you live your life in constant fear of dying, you won't be living at all. Who was it that said, "Don't fear death, fear the unlived life"? That is so true.

Actually, fear of dying is sometimes the ONE THING that is responsible for keeping an otherwise young and healthy individual alive.
