technically, he has as much right to the house as she does. Can the dogs be taken somewhere else? If not, I'd change the locks anyway.

He has every right to enter if he is still on the lease. She can move the dogs elsewhere until he's removed. Depending on the terms of the lease she may have to contact the owner before changing locks anyway.

Well, YOU take the dogs. He has legal access to the house, until his name is off the lease.

And tell her not to shack up again without being married.

Very good question. However, considering the magnitude of the decision, I would recommend that she consult an attorney instead of taking advise from some clown on these boards. Situations like these are what attorneys are for. I wish you and her the best of luck!

If both their names are on the mortgage, this will involve lawyers. Best to talk to one before doing anything like changing the locks.

PS I take it one of them is a politician judging by the category you chose. Maybe the paparazzi need to know too.....

if his name is on the lease she can't lock him out, he can take her to court if she does.

he can come in with the police and take what is his if he chooses.

but if his name is on the lease tough luck, that's a legal piece of paper.

is her name also on the lease?

change the locks, but as they say, if there is a will , there is a way. so he might still break in. hire someone tough to keep watch of the place while she works.
