as they are forced to deal with the challenges of today? I ask this because of the following: Increasing national debt, overly crowded prisons, pollution, lower wages for middle class, inflation rate increases, Social Security and Medicare Programs.
If the answer is yes, how do we minimize the challenges facing tomorrow’s generation?

Given that the new generation is more of "What can the country and everyone else DO for ME" instead of the "What can I DO for my country" (like my generation -- and I am descended from a WWII Paraplegic vet), Yes, there will be a diminished quality of life -- because too many are not willing to WORK for what they want or save for what they want instead of the "Instant Gratification" that is such a part of their lives.

As cruel as it sounds, technology is keeping people alive longer these days which is putting a strain on the economy and the taxpayers. Our social security is being diminished faster than the taxpaying public can add to it. On top of that we have people who cheat the systems putting a strain on the remainder of us. We waited far too long to start worrying about the environment and no matter what we do now it is not going to fix it in time. All we can do is sit back and hope for the best.

The future generations will only have it as good as their education and ambition can provide for them. I believe a revolution in Education across the board is the only way to insure a better future. Education in our "Modern Society" revolves
around passing tests and getting a job in the future. It should be about making solid well rounded citizens, and increasing our awareness to tackle any problem without flinging poo like the monkeys we are right now.

You omitted the number one thing causing diminished quality of life -- too many people. The earth's population has doubled since I was a kid, and the quality of life has gone in the toilet. It will only get worse for future generations.

Maybe they will be the ones to fix it. I feel this way because they will be our children and we are the ones who have been forced to settle for a diminished quality of life-we are trying to change and maybe this will be reinforced in our children. They may be the ones who really fight for a change.

Sincerely,

A Gen-X'er who hopes for change.
