Look in View>Toolbars>Standard Buttons. If that doesn't work... go back to View>Toolbars>and hit customize. Click reset.
And if that doesn't work, a work around is to hold down the alt key + the arrow key left or right (left = back, right = forward)

check for the stop, refresh button - if they're missing too go to view- toolsbars...standard buttons shld be ticked
if these other buttons are visible then your ie /pc has spyware on it. Google for Ad-Aware free edition, and run it.
I'd however recommend that you start using firefox browser, whereby a lot of your spyware problems will be solved. PS if it's spyware your passkeys may be compromised.

Have you tried pushing F11 on the top of your key board. I don't know if that will help cuz every time i press it , it still has the back and forward buttons. but you could still try it.
