Apples and Oranges. Define the application, training, maintenance and equipment requirements before you decide. I'd bet that you would come up with Windows as the winner.
Here's why
- wider range of familiar applications available for Windows
- wider range of Windows trained personnel are available
- wider range of available and working devices with multiple vendors are available for WIndows.
- more trained Windows network and repair personally are available.
If you are a one man show that does not share your data with anyone, the the single man cost and maintenance is fine either way.... go ahead and pick Linux.
Of course, when I pick a single developer, single maintenance environment, I will go with the lower cost computers, servers and networks and pick Linux. But I would not specify Linux in a multi-man, multi-platform environment... never.

What screen shot?
The difference is that Unix is a proper operating system, whereas Windows is an appalling mish-mash of unnecessary and insecure code which makes it slow and unreliable.

UNIX is a very stable OS and is preferable if you are running a server or any heavy-duty computing where you don't want to have to reboot regularly (or ever).
Windows is well known to be less stable, but it does support a lot more software (especially games) and is the preferable choice for a home desktop. Definitely not preferable for a server environment.

Well id have to say Windows is an awesome program. Unix can freeze up alot unlike windows. But hey both are good in my book. I prefer Windows Xps. Not in laptops. Unix is a good lapton windows is not. Windows is a good desktop, unix is not.
