I am nine and a half weeks pregnant. I often (mostly at night) feel a strange pain in my vagina. It feels like it may be my cervix. The pain is a quick, sharp pain. I don't really know how to describe it, other than "mini-lightning." I haven't had any cramping or spotting. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced it? I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, but I'm totally stressing myself out. Plus, I always like to ask other pregnant women or mothers, since they actually share the same "equipment." Thanks for any information in advance.

Thanks so much for all of your answers. I feel much less worried, but will definitely talk it over with my OB. Thanks again!

I had the exact same thing and there was no problem. My daughter is 8 months old and it was a normal, healthy pregnancy. Definitely check with the OB, but I think you are fine-good luck!

I would have the doctor keep an eye on this. I had pains like that at night and ended up losing my baby girl on Aug 11th due to Incompetant Cervix. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I had the same problem both times - it is ok but it still hurts! Better check with ob - but it is almost over and you will have a healthy baby in the end! Good luck!

The pain you feel is your pubic bone moving apart, it happens as your baby grows so that when it is time to delivery your hips are already spread apart and ready for the birth of your child. It is totally normal, don't worry so much and try to enjoy being pregnant.

I had the same problem. My doctor said something about the stretching of the cervix and stuff like that. You should e fine but,of course, ask your doctor.

Sounds normal to me. I was so panicky when pregnant. All those little twinges and pulling sensations really freaked me out--sometimes to hysterics!

But all was fine. I have a healthy, wiggly toddler now.

You're likely all right. Have a great pregnancy, and congrats!

TOTALLY NORMAL. Feels weird, huh? Ahh the miracle of motherhood. Add to that nausea and swollen feet and you are set to GO!
