I felt bad for the old and very young.when they said maditory that meant everyone who can, the old I know but some families could of left ,being stuborn they stayed and risk their life and their kids. Some of the dead bodies might of been bodies hiden after a murder long before katrina and came out because of the flood.

I do think the government could have helped more, and faster....

BUT...the only people that should have been at risk were the very old and the handy capped.....there is no reason why any able bodied person should have died.....

The blame lies with the able bodied folks themselves who knew a hurrican was coming and just stayed there. I would have jumped on the back of a truck, or a pickkup, or the roof of a car, or stolen a bike and gotten the hell out of dodge.....I live no where near Louisiana, and all i heard for days before the hurricane hit ground was to get the F#CK out......the bulk of the blame with the able bodied folks who died, lies with them.

I was there on clean up. Alot more happened than the news reported. There were tons of murders and rapes everywhere. The idiot mayor took away the guns from law abiding citizens only trying to protect themselves from the gangs of murderers and rapists stalking the streets. They would actually go up to houses and take the guns and leave the people there defenseless, and sometimes by the time they got back days later those same people had been murdered and the houses looted. If the news actually reported everything that happened the country would be in shock.

Having lived on the Carolina hurricane coast for 30 years, I blame the residents and local government of New Orleans. Millions of dollars had been given to La. to improve and maintain the levees. It was misappropriated by a mob-controlled city, and never saw the levees. The school buses got flooded instead of loaded. And why does any healthy person abandon his elderly relatives for the government to care for? It is NOT the duty of the federal government to hold our hands OR pay for our mistakes. They have no money that was not taken by force of law from other citizens! So why should Minnesotans pay for levees in New Orleans????

The main reason there wasn't more aid to New Orleans is most/if not all of our US reservists are in Iraq fighting a meaningless costly war.

I also think the reason people weren't aided was prejudice both on people of color and people who are poor. It's horrible.

I think one of the reasons New Orleans hasn't been rebuilt is because there are going to be more hurricanes coming (may be even worse) because we ignored Global Warming and didn't protest enough.

This is a Global problem and we, in the US, are ignoring...or voting in idiots that ignore it. I'm hoping with the next election, we can start to change this and even more so, begin to heal. Pray/Mediate for peace

spike lee the director has made a documtentary on hurricane katrina and what really happened there. Try to catch it on HBO its called when the levees broke its a terrible tragedy but I think everyone should watch it just on a need to know basis.
