Private ownership of firearms are the only thing keeping America free. The first thing that every dictatorship does is ban all public guns. Any law that limits or prohibits any firearm is unconstitutional therefore illegal. I do however think that people wanting to own a firearm should be required to take a "Guns For Dummies" test to make sure they can use, store, and be overall safe with them before they can legally own a gun.

I'm all for it. I'm a lifetime member of the NRA too. Not just because I like firearms, but because I truly believe in our rights provided by the Second Amendment. I want to see these rights continue on for future generations as well.

It is without a doubt that an EDUCATED gun owner is more likely to protect him/herself and the family from any threat instead of waiting for the police to arrive.
Having said that I have to add that in order to prevent mistakes or friendly fire, people need to be educated about fire arms before granted the right to own one.
I think that every police stations should offer gun safety education to each person interested in purchasing any kind of fire arm.
Better safe than sorry.

Anytime a government tries to take away the means of protecting yourself, your family and your Nation, that Nation is no longer a free Nation but is earnestly trying to become a dictatorship with those in power to be in absolute power with no input or desire to represent the desires of its people. Unless the Nation is a Kingdom, the only other form of government is total dictatorship.

I never leave home without one. I am pro concealed weapon avocate as that is how I carry mine. But, I also believe one needs to know how to use them. Most people are scared of the unknown no matter what it is. It is no different then people saying they hate Golf it isn't that they hate it they just don't know who to play it.
We would have less crime if the law allows all citizens to carry concealed weapons it doesn't mean you have to just allowed to. Right now the criminal has the upper hand as they know the average citizen can't.

Look up the statistics of how many people are killed by firearms owned by a member of their own household.
If a gun is in your home, it is more likely to accidentally (or not) kill a family member , than to ward off any intruder.
