Well it could be the position you sleep. Get a couple of really good soft pillows.
Take some Advil which will both reduce any inflammation and help relax the muscle. Robaxitum will do the same it's for backs really.
Try this too. Wet a small towel, wring it out good, and nuke it in the microwave for 2 minutes till it is good and hot. Put it in a plastic bag and on your shoulder. The moist heat will help. You can use just the towel but make sure it isn't too hot and it will cool fast outside of the bag.
Do one minute of hot and one of cold compress if you can...that helps the inflammation, and is what they taught me to do in physio. It really helps.
And most importantly, don't go doing anything until it's healed or you'll just keep reinjuring it.

RE:
My left shoulder hurts when i move it?
I dont want to run into the dr. and then it ends up being just a sore muscle. What are the symtoms of a torn rotator cuff?
The pain carries up to the left side of my neck also and hard to move my neck around too and have rough time sleeping. Any ideas? please help. I am in lots of pain.

It sounds like it could be bursitis (inflamation of the bursa which is a little pocket like sac between the bones in the shoulder joint) It is very painful!! An anti inflamatory drug such as Advil will help with the pain, and you can ice it and then use heat. It usually takes a couple of days for the inflamation to go down even taking the Advil (ibuprophen)

Could be bursitis and /or rotator cuff problem or it could be a cervical spine (neck) problem. If it's been going on for more than a week or 2 it would probably be best to see an orthopaedic (bone and joint) dr., who may order an MRI of your c-spine and/or shoulder. Sometimes cortisone (steroid) shots work wonders, sometimes therapy exercises are very helpful, or ibuprofen (for either of these conditions)

When I had a similar problem with my lower back the doctor told me ice for 15 minutes and then later on use a heating pad or a warmed wash cloth to the affected area for 45 minutes. Do that a few times and it should help, if not make an appointment with your doc ASAP

If you tore your cuff, it hurts all the way down to your wrist, and up along your neck as well. I tore mine sophomore year of HS, so I do know the feeling. I would go to the ER, or try to grit it out and get to you Primary Doctor. Good luck.

assuming you are serious; go to the Doctor and have your self checked out, don't waste your time!
If you're just having fun at our expense then ....don't move your arm, it will stop hurting!
