hamsters and guinea pigs should be kept on hardwood shavings like Aspen or some type of bedding not made from softwoods like Pine or Cedar.
They are both very bad for the respiratory system of small animals. If you can imagine your bedroom with the overpowering smell of pine sol or cedar you will understand what it must be like for the small furry ones.
The soft green chips are chlorophyll enhanced pine chips and they are not good.
Here is a link to the types of beddings for small animals and descriptions. Both good and bad.

I know the link is for rat cages, but the information (sans the litterbox stuff) is the same for all small animals.

Yes, you can use the same thing for the guinea pig as for the hamster. I don't like the wood chips as well as some stuff made by Kaytee it is a softsorb stuff that is grey looking in color. It is smaller and helps with odors and is cheaper too.

I used to swear by ability of Carefresh. I only presently found some thing i like greater advantageous. it fairly is SoftSorbent by ability of Kaytee. It is obtainable in a undeniable unscented type and now they have 3 scented ones. they have have been given rose, mint, and lavender. i in my opinion do no longer only like the scent of rose or lavender so i've got only offered the mint. It smells fairly stable, all of them have fairly bits of despite plant they scent like in them. so which you already comprehend it fairly is genuine and not some chemical compounds. in addition they have bits of shade, pink pink and green. It fairly lasts lots longer than Carefresh and absorbs the scent and wetness greater advantageous. I examined it. Carefresh lasts some week at the same time as this would bypass 2-3 weeks. And the heady scent lasts for a protracted time. of direction you're able to nonetheless replace bedding a week, i grow to be only sorting out the type.

Why do morons post on here? DON'T USE CEDAR BEDDING. The webs will tell you all you need to know about taking care of piggies. I used to use them and my piggies are over 6 years old.
