JSK: How would you know what to do if you're a man?

My doctor once prescribed me 550 mg of Naproxen (Aleve) but I've already taken 800 mg of ibuprofen and it's still awful.

It's like my 4th day on my period and the cramps should be getting better now but strangely it's worsening fast.

Don't eat chocolate. It's hard, I know, but it actually makes it worse. It is best to exercise before and after you period. Do things like crunches and things that will work on your tummy. It will help build the walls of your uterus and eventually make things better. What works for me is watching a good movie in my bed. I curls up with a heating pad after I take Midol. The movie usually takes my mind off the pain. I once bought these heating pads from Playtex (I beleive) and those really worked. You just stick them on the outside of your undies and it heats up and really helps the pain. I hope they get better!

Midol is something I would never be caught without :-) And if you start taking calcium magnesium supplements now next month should be much better, it eases cramps. Personally I have really bad periods when I've been stressed and eating badly. Of course sometimes healthier eating is easier said than done but it helps a lot. But if you try a bunch of things and nothing helps, see your doctor to make sure it's not a real problem like an ovarian cyst and because birth control pills can lessen cramps sometimes.

Take otc meds mlike Midol. Stay away from salty foods they will bloat you. Use a heating pad or take a warm bath. Sometimes if my cramps are really bad I will lay on the floor and put my feet up on the couch. It eases the downward pushy feeling. This works great in connection with a heating pad........If your 21 go ahead and down that Midol with 1 glass of wine. That will definetly do the trick. Dont do more than 1 glass or tommorow you will have a hangover and cramps!!! LOL Good Luck

Have you seen a doctor? I was in the same boat about a year ago. I was cycling every other week practically hemmoraging with the worst cramps I could tolerate. I cramped from my knees up to the chest. They were that bad! I thought it was normal, take some meds and it would go away. If it bothers you that bad, see your OBGYN!! I did. I am now recovering from a total hysterectomy where a malignant tumor was in my uterus. I advice anyone, don't wait!! Not saying this is your situation but your body is telling you something!! Pay attention and listen to it speak to you!! Good Luck sweetie!!

Oh, sister, I feel your pain. I take 500+ mg of Naproxen and/or some left over hydrocodone from the dentist so I can sleep.

If neither are available, a warm bath or a heating pad might help, or - and I swear this works - masturbate until you orgasm. The spasms and contractions that occur when you climax will ease menstrual cramps.

My best advice: See ur doctor. He may prescribe some birth control if u dont already take them, to help u with the pain. In the meantime, try a heating pad or drinking some tea, or maybe even some Aleve. All those work for me...

good luck!

Try natural remedies since medication may actually be affecting other things and making your situation worse. I recommend a heating pad. My Aunt suggested to me that cold was better so you'll just have to experiment. Excercise and cammomile tea!

get a heating pad....some advil...some chocolate...and take a nap. You may also want to take somethign for bloating (which may aggravate your cramps). IF you can't lay down, get some of those mobile heat pads...they work wonders.

At your pharmacy you can ask for a pill "period pain". It works really well! Also a warm bath with lavender oil will help your body to relax and to sooth the cramps.
