Keep in mind that you can't hide it *too* thoroughly - otherwise other computers on the net that you *want* to communicate with won't know where to send the packets.
And if the computers you *want* to talk to can find you, so can others, if they're sufficiently determined and clueful. At best, you can hide from somebody who's not really motivated or clued. If they have a clue and a subpoena, you're going to get nailed anyhow...

If you want to hide it you have to pay a security agency for software...
