The Media portrays citizens of the United States in the light of being sympathetic to all nations except themselves. As an American, what do you dislike about Americans? And would you leave if you had the chance?

It's fashionable among young persons.

Ask around among older people, you'll get a different perspective.

P.S. I DID leave, for ten solid years; my work took me abroad. I was never so glad as the day I returned to America.

Americans don't dislike America - or Americans. What most Americans dislike is the corrupt political system we've allowed to take over our government. This sitting U.S. Congress is the most evil, corrupt, incompetent, arrogant, greedy, cowardly body ever to occupy the Capitol Building, and it gets worse every time Americans vote. Our politicians are crooked beyond belief, nothing more than vile wolves in sheep's clothing. Until we change our political system so that honorable, honest, decent human beings can be elected to office, Americans will continue to allow our elected officials to suck off the taxpayers' teat while doing absolutely nothing worthwhile.
Would I leave? No. Ours is still a great country. But, like Ross Perot once said, it's the system that's rotten past the core. And until Americans start a second revolution and demand our country back, the politicians will continue to infect our nation with their cesspool activities. -RKO-

I think Americans get along to a greater extent than other countries. In Europe, you always hear about the people fighting with one another. Same goes for Asia, and the Middle East. I would not leave but I'd work to improve. The only thing I can say that I dislike is the lack of access to resources such as healthcare, education, and the politcal process for everyone.

Good question - I think it isn't that it is liked less but that we are more aware of the problems than before.

Sometimes we confuse "America" with the government, and not the culture. It is quite american to speak out against the government or other americans in a (perhaps vain) attempt to make it better.

That said, we do have terrible problems now,but the good news is we can still fix them because we have the vote. I think the only fair criticism is that so many americans are unaware what our elected leaders allow to happen, which makes us look like bad people too.

I dislike that americans watch Fox news and treat it like gospel, that they listen to Rush Limbaugh and believe everything he says, that they do not question the administration, that they think Iraq had something to do with 9/11, that they voted for Bush, twice! when we knew he lied, was lying, and would lie to us.

But as bad as it is here, we're still better off than other countries.

It is not America that I dislike it is the present government. One of the things I love about America is its democracy and voting, we have the opportunity to overthrow a corrupt government every 4 years. Like it don't always work that way as evidenced by the currant administration it will eventually balance out.

America is much bigger than the whole Mideast, yet there is no deadly jihad between our states...at the most, we hate each other's football teams. We live and let live, and "Allah" does not tell us to kill the infidels from the next state over because their weather is better.
We live in the best place in the WORLD. We love it here. Period, end of story.
Now Shut up!
