Jesus, there are so many ignorant people in here.
No, not neccassarily. Most people these days find they have been born gay, or they have developed feelings later on in life because something has "turned" them (not neccassarily abuse, but a kiss with a friend, a crush on someone of the same sex etc). Sure, abuse may contribute to someone deciding to come out, but I think you will find most of them would have had those feelings anyway.

I'm not quite sure of your question's intent.
"Traumatized", so that they are likely to want to bond to same-sex partners? This theory has been pretty much discredited over the years. At present, _no one_ really has any solid scientific data as to why John ends up liking men, why Bill prefers women, and why Sam likes both.
Most gay/lesbian and bisexual people I know have, at some point or another, had to deal with societal insults about their sexuality and thus have suffered some sort of "trauma".

Not all gays were traumatized, minus the abuse received these days with basic rights being taken away

The only time I get traumatized is when I come to this section of Yahoo answers and see all of the hate. But I get over it.

Oh yes, my trauma was from society in general!
Society kept telling me that my being a lesbian was wrong, bad, sinful, sick...yeah, that was really traumatic to grow up knowing society didn't accept you for who you are and what you had no control over!

Complete fallacy (pun intended).
I was raised by wonderful, loving parents who completely accepted me as I am.
Somebody said that to me once....that I was gay because my dad must have molested me. I couldn't help myself...so I punched him in the jaw and never spoke to him again.

I am certain there are some in the LGBT community just as there are some in the straight community.
I, however, am not one of them and have many friends that are LGBT who have had mentally and physically healthy lives

The majority of *people* have dealt with all manner of problems. It has nothing to do with which gender they prefer to sleep with.
