Many years ago I lived across the street from a jehovas Witness temple, and they would always come to my door. They even peaked in my windows, to see if I was in there, i could hear them say "he's in there". I finally got rid of them one day when a family came to the door (small children with them), and i answered the door in my underwear, holding a bong. They never came back.

You can politely explain that you are not interested. We are trying to help people. If someone does not want our help that is their choice.

PS I was hoping I would not need to do this, but obviously people think it's fun, so I will go ahead and dispell some of the more rediculous assertions and suggestions.

Coming to the door naked, offering sexual favors, coming to the door in your underwear, Saying I am a Devil Worshiper, insulting us or our parenting skills, questioning our beliefs or ridiculing us does not make us "RUN AWAY and NEVER COME BACK"
While the idea of coming to the door naked or making sexual remarks might sound like a humorous solution it is immpractical in the real world. Many Witnesses do come with minors, some are minors. I know that if I had my niece with me and someone exposed themselves to us or came to the door naked or threatened her I would feel compelled to let the proper authorities know that their was someone who enjoyed flashing minors. In this world we live in we cannot assume that a threat is just that. When people are making bombs out of seemingly ordinary liquids we cannot ignore threats or perverted behavior. Claiming you have a certain belief is not going to scare us.

By the way the person who claimed he came to the door naked because he lived across from a Witness temple is more than likely making up the whole thing, as if he lived across the street from where we have our meetings he would know these buildings are called Kingdom Halls.

Since Jehovah's Witnesses literally ask for nothing from a householder, they cannot accurately be called "solicitors". In any event, a "No Soliciting" sign has no actual legal meaning.

Jehovah's Witnesses do respect "No Tresspassing" signs, so you could display that. Or you could simply ask for your address to be added to their "Do Not Visit" list. Or you could simply listen to their peaceful message of bible encouragement, gain bible knowledge, and eventually qualify to join Jehovah's Witnesses in their ministry.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

bet you have a sign on your head too and Jesus still knocks anyway.
They aren't selling anything. They are witnessing. I like them and sometimes I am otherwise occupied, I say, eww, can I get with you another time,,I am in the middle of stuff right now. It is never a problem.
Try offering them refreshments and listening to what they say. You might make someones day.

My great aunt had an unique way of dealing with Jehovah Witnessess. When she answered the door most of the time
there was children with them. Before they could open their mouth she would start in by demanding why they were
dragging those poor children around with them in the heat. She
would continue by informing them that children need to play not to be dragged from door to door. She would yell after them as they raced down the driveway, " HAVE A NICE DAY!"

Before thay can get more than 6 words out, I smile and tell them in a really loud voice.... "OH I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!!!
"Come here! Lets have a group hug"
Will you come help me move my refrigerator to the 2nd floor? Let me tell you ALL about the hot sex me and my gay boyfriend had last night!..." ( and make up something really graphic...)

They usually stand there with their mouths hanging open.
Before they can utter another sound I interupt with
"I have a huge boil on my @ss, I need you to squeeze it for me".

They get the hint and leave.

We find that a sign that says, "Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormon Missionaries will be shot" works quite well.

I read a story on Yahoo News about a woman that had a sign on her gate that read "My dog eats jehovah's witnesses...." or something like that...I bet that'd work!

be nice and invite them in because even though u don't believe
in their beliefs its always good to be nice. I don't believe in Jehovah's but I don't turn them away either, I will let them speak
and tell how they believe and then I will speak and tell them how
I believe and if they don't want to hear it then they won't come
back.
