We had something very similar and it was a hair clog in a T bend of the pipe going to the septic tank.
I was freaked that it was the tank gone bad.
$200 later and one Roto Rooter guy visiting...and we haven't had problems since.
Our guy guaranteed no more clogs for one year too. It was great.

Could be that your septic is full and it does cause this problem or the toilet bubbling when the washer drains. It cost about $100. to have your septic cleaned out. And it's good to do if it hasn't been done in awhile anyway. Drain fields do go bad and depending how old your system is you may want them to advise you on what to do.

It does sound like your breather pipe is blocked. i think others have called it sanitary vents. Well they are to stop air locks so that the increase in volume isn't compensated for by raising the levels in the toilet etc.
