Your best bet would be Cingular Pay as You Go, b/c they can talk all you want with other Cingular people (contract or minutes) all day and however many and they will charge you only a $1 the next day. So if you only talk to cingular people, you may spend about $30/month on a phone. And they possibly will give free nights and weekends, but i am not sure about that one.

I have a pay as you go phone. I use Net10. The majority of pay as you go service carriers take minutes away from your phone daily to give you low rates. Net10 does not do that. It has a good area of coverage, voice mail, text messaging. Phone calls are ten cents per minute, and text messages are five cents a piece. You have to buy phone cards by the due date on the phone, otherwise you lose your minutes and your number. if you run out of minutes, you lose your number. With net10, you only have to buy phone cards once every two months. If you buy a one month phone card with 300 minutes, You get 300 minutes and service for two months. Heres the website so you can check it out and see if Net10 is for you.

They call it "pay as you go" service because you will PAY anytime you GO.

I would stay far, far away from these scams if at all possible. If you can't afford a 39.00/month contract you most certainly won't be able to afford a pay as you go if you expect to use the phone at all.

If your going to go for a non contract plan, Cingular is the best.

They have a plan called pick your plan for 49.99 a month that will allow to have unlimited nights and weekens.

This is great for prepaid plans, because the other prepaid providers don't do this.

It depends on how much you plan on using it. I just switched to VirginMobile...I think they have a really good variety of plans, no contracts, good rates. On their site, they even have a chart telling you which plan to get based on how much you will use your phone. And I think you can switch between plans if your usage changes in the future. Also check Alltel, I think they have decent pay as you go plans, too.

"pay as you go" is THE MOST costly kind you can get. my dad and i did a study on the pricesand we found that with all the "pay as you go" you pay 7-16x more than if you get a contract. it does not matter what kind you get, you always pay more for them, the companys lie about prices and hide fees.
