One should try to use transitions when writing an essay.

Firstly, using transitions gives the reader an idea of where the natural breaks in ideas occur.

Secondly, transitions can enumerate and show importance to your ideas.

Thirdly, transitions are just plain cool and sound educated.

I'm an English/Grammer BUFF. I love Grammer, sorry I'm a royal nerd. I should have been an English major, lol. But, I love transitions they are my favorite.

My favorite is consequently...

I hate waking up in the middle of the night to the neighbors dogs barking. Consequently, I make sure I turn my bedroom fan on before I go to bed.

Yesterday, I cleanend; still, I cleaned some more. I cleaned until my hands fell off! As a result, I couldn't pick-up my newborn son this morning.

So, I hope you have enough examples to get you going. However, if you need more help I'm only a click away.

Good Luck, english is fun! If you need any other help please email me. I love this stuff!!

How to use those transitions is simple. You introduce your first argument (or anecdote, point, evidence, etc.) by using Firstly, then a comma, and your argument. Then, Secondly, a comma, and your second argument, and so on. Normally, one does not write more than "Thirdly" or even "Lastly" (no fourthly or fifthly... you'll need other transitions if you have to introduce so many arguments").

I hope this has been helpful enough. You can contact me if you need help with other connectors.
