You can never open up to your boyfriend? ...Do you mean as far as having a conversation that helps him to know you better and for you to understand him better?
Have you discussed this with him and you get no where and have tried and tried?
If so...
I know this advice might hurt because you call him your boyfriend.
If closeness and being able to talk about issues is important to you..I would remain just friends if possible. Accept him as he is. Maybe that is the best he can do.
Don't settle for less. Being able to open up to each other is a major priority for an intimate relationship....and I'm not talking just about sex.
He might be like this with anyone..one not to open up....or it may just be the chemistry between you two.
It'll probably hurt now to break up....but it will be even more difficult and heartbreaking to you later... You'll spend a lot of your (and his) precious time waiting and hoping things will be different.
Sometimes you just have to accept and move on with your life.
I wish you the best and hope one day you'll be with the right man where both of you will be blessed with a very close relationship with each other. Take care.

I would say that if you can't open up to him, you don't love him. If you love someone, you can tell them anything. Just wait awhile and see if it happens for you.
