Yes, because the tutor will help you identify the areas in which you need to apply yourself more.
Can correct the way in which you may of learned wrongly and put you on the porper course, helping you in many other areas also.
can show you way to apply a principle that may be involved to get the results you are looking for in a shorter period of time.
And can show you how to take test without getting all excited, thus blocking your ability to think in a stressful situation.
A tutor is fine, they are like coaches only they know how to apply their skill to you individually so as you may use their knowledge also.

Possibly, a tutor will make you work on assignments, the same as a teacher. He might even point out to you that "a lot" is two words, not one.

pros- help from a smart person!! you'll get better grades, understand assignments better, and maybe you're tutor is hott and you get to hang out with him...or you get the school nerd which is good because then you don't get romantically involved with anyone and you get to concentrate on school.
cons- if your tutor is hott, you might start to like him...and he starts to like you...and you get romantically involved...you break up...crap! now who's going to tutor you? or the school nerd develops this HUGE crush on you...and if you tell him you don't feel that way for him he gets butt hurt and stops tutoring you. now who's going to tutor you?

Maybe if they were super hot. I wouldn't be able to study if a hot guy was mine. But then again, I never really needed a tutor.
