Barry Bonds is the record holder for solo homers in a single season.

He hit 46 solo homers in 2001. That's 46 out of 73 with nobody on base... because that's the only time the pitched to him.

Soriano is not even close. The record is 73 by Barry Bonds

Oh, solo homers in a season, or in a career? Either way it's gonna be Bonds on both. I dont' remember the numbers, but I saw a breakdown on it the other day. Aaron and Ruth smoke him in baserunners (rbi).

Oh, and it's definitely NOT 6 or 7. 75% of all homers hit are of the solo variety.
