A lot depends on what kind of archaeology you are interested in. Let that and your budget guide you through this.
The decision to be well-educated however lies within you, and your innate curiosity and continued drive and stamina to stay up with all the information there is regarding your subject.
Some of the least broadly educated people I have met were *educated* at Ivy League schools, and some of the most intelligent were educated at state colleges. But being educated at a school known for their programs in a particular field help provide more opportunities for you later on, as well as immerse you in a completely academic atmosphere, hopefully one where the students' energy and interests are more in their fields than in partying and attempts at mating.
Were budget and current politics no object, I personally would try for U of Cairo, though.
