Baby Bettas actually do drown if the water is more than 6 inches deep. They are labyrinth fishes and need to get to the surface. If the water is too deep they are no longer positive bouyancy and they actually drown.

Don't put the fish in a typical "fish bowl". They will drown, because there are no air pumps to aerate the water for them to breath.

Throw a "lifesaver" in the bowl. Then, if he still drowns, at least he'll die happy. Nothing like a little tangerine lifesaver. OR... you could give him mouth to mouth if you don't mind your girlfriend calling you "fish lips." (Not really, but I assumed you were joking too...)

My friend used to eat them when he was drunk. He'd just reach into the fish tank and grab one and chase it with a beer.

they dnt drown.....they only suffocate
unless....sumthing goes wrong with their gills, then they die but then again....they would suffocate instead.......i think!
