I don't think the white youth/people who have adopted "black" culture and society as their own are ashamed of being who they are. I think the problem is that they think the majority of the behavior and "habits" - if you will, are cool to them. They apparently like the music, the clothes and the "lingo" - if you will. Most black people weren't "raised" that way either. People may think that, but it isn't so.
I am not knocking anyone, black or white. I am expressing my own views here. There is an exception to every rule, so we'll keep that in mind when I am responding here.
I have seen white people - especially the males walking around with their pants hanging off their behinds, talking what some refer to as "ghetto" talk and blasting music that is filled with curse words and lyrics that degrade women and so forth. I don't agree with any of that no matter who is doing it - black, white, spanish, asian, indian; I don't care who!
Every race needs to take responsibility for their children and their upbringing. Children should be taught how to speak proper english - without it being referred to as "talking like a white person". It is ENGLISH! They should be taught respect for: others, the property of others and themselves - not necessarily in that order. They should be raised to become educated, where it is not acceptable to drop out of school or get a GED. Again, I am NOT knocking anyone who has fallen subject to these things. I am just making a point.
There are so many reasons why people of ALL races don't achieve all they can in life and I understand that. But, it is not right to use those circumstances as an excuse to be lazy or accept being an underachiever. If anything, that should be all the ammunition they need to "succeed"! Stemming from broken homes, poverty, fathers not taking responsibility for the children they have helped to create, substance abuse, whatever else you can think of, people have "regressed" rather than "progressed".
Regardless of race, reality is that people, ALL people need to start taking responsibility for their own actions and personality traits and stop blaming everyone and everything around them for who they have turned out to be!
One more time, I am NOT knocking anyone of any race. I am stating the TRUTH. I could be black, white, spanish, etc. I could be male or female. I could be a high school graduate or a drop out. I could have a GED or a PhD. The point is, I'm NOT here to OFFEND or INSULT anyone. I am here to show that not everyone in this world approves of, nor engages in the negative behavior people complain about here on Yahoo Answers or anywhere else.
Just an EXAMPLE: I don't have to be a member of the KKK to agree with SOME of their views, nor do I have to be against any race in particular because I see SOME things the same way. I also don't have to be a Bill Cosby fan to agree with him, nor does that make me a "sell out" or an "Uncle Tom" as some would call it, if I chose to jump on HIS "bandwagon" - so to speak.
I apologize for this answer being soooooooo long, but I felt everything I posted needed to be said.
Sorry guys. :-)

Excusme? Since when? I've never observed such phenomenon. White people here hate acting black, and they have their own little cultures wherever. We seem to be very segregated, the whites and blacks, and white people aren't that interested in adopting black culture. At least where I llive, "down South" and junk. Also, they act that way probably because they enjoy hip hop and think its "cool" now, and they feel the need to get with it by acting hip hop, or black. It just looks pathetic and stupid though. Like me trying to act different from who I really am. There's no point.

I think it's in part, due to the modern day civil rights movement. There are of course, predudiced people in any race, but predudice isn't popular in America now. It's not politically correct, and kids want to move forward and away from their parents and grandparents way of thinking. To show their parents and the world that they don't seperate race among their peers, they have adopted the black teen-culture's interests because it's cool to be black now, especially since it has the added bonus of pi$$ing off their parents.
All generations had a style of their own that pi$$ed off their parents. These kids will be fine as long as that's what this is. It isn't 'wrong' for them to adopt this style...I mean, even black kids will outgrow this whole hip hop/rap thing. The only one's who scare me are the one's who 'hook up' with the real gangsta stuff.

Perphaps it's who they are now. They've been around it so often, they feel it's the way to be. It could easily be said about Caucassian culture as it is about African American culture. You'll find the color of skin affects very little as far as mental processes. We all react similarly to our environment as anyone else would if given the situation from birth. Put a white child in the ghetto, and he wont grow up to speak perfect english and good manners. It'll be a part of him. So even if their home life is how their homes are, who they are is depending on who they choose to be. They chose african american culture. If this is not who they are through and through, then yes it is a lie. But otherwise, there's nothing wrong with it.

First of all, it doesn't matter what way they were raised. Kids are always experimenting and looking to find who they are, not who their parents think they should be. As far as adopting black culture, I see it more as them trying out different types of American culture until they find their own true place. It doesn't mean they are ashamed of being who they are, it means they just don't really know who they are yet.

I dont think any of this about race, but you will make it that way. Why cant people just be who they want and do what they want?
Who do you think is in charge of all of this industry definitely not a groupd of black people trying to "tarnish" white america. You should grow up, this is such a ridiculous question.
I date white guys and listen to rock music and people ask me "why are you acting white" I never knew one could act a certain "color" always thought you had to act a certain way.
People are gonna go what they like and that should be okay. Of there parents like country so be it, doesnt mean they have to like it.

Well I am white and I am not ashamed of being myself. Secondly, my kids aren't either. You are talking about white kids these days adopting black culture and claiming it as their own. Well that is how they are raised nowadays. How can you say that its not? As far as I know as well, blacks in the olden days didn't talk like they do now or dress with their pants to their ankles. Kids are just feeling free to act and dress like themselves. Do you think black rap stars dress like their ancestors, no, and these are who the kids listen to nowadays, and look up to them and try to dress like them, not because of their colour but because kids think they are cool. That style of music is very popular nowadays. As are the clothes, I think you are just predjudice otherwise what people are wearing and what music they listen to wouldn't bother you.

Adopt which culture? You mean they should stay with country music? Oh wait, that was 'borrowed' from the blacks during slavery days. Alright, Rock & Roll? Again, taken from the Black culture. So, what is left? Right, you want all white kids to listen to classical music and ballroom dancing, that is what you mean.
Idiot. It is the 'White' Media that keeps pushing all of these things into our childrens faces, no surprise that it is going how it is going. What a big bag of 'white power' garbage I ever heard/read!

Why does every jackass that wants to put some group of people down make broad generalizations that aren't even close to being the true? Must just be the world we live in. Better to blame it on society than to take responsibility for our own actions.
