I support abortion but i also support capital punishment. I support gun control and i support gay marriage. and i am opposed to illegal immigration and i think that the war on terrorism is justified.

Clearly i am in BOTH sides of the political spectrum. But isn't 'moderate' a person who DOES'T have firm beliefs? I tend to have firm belief in what i believe in.

So what am i , a moderate?

You're closer to most Americans then they want to admit. This whole "conservative vs. liberal" bullshit has gotten way too out of hand. I guarantee that outside of religion nuts and hippies you won't find a single damn American who is one or the other. The war between the left and right is just distracting us from all of the real issues at hand. It's like being in elementary school again and instead of doing your school work you just start picking on the other kids to distract them from their work so you don't look like a lazy bastard.

A moderate is not someone with no firm beliefs. That is a misconception. A moderate is someone who believes things from both sides of the political spectrum. It is someone with an open mind who tends to avoid extremes.

WHAT you believe is not the important thing, it's the extremity of your belief that counts.

If your support of abortion includes minors without parental consent and partial-birth, then you are a liberal on abortion.

If your support of capital punishment includes children and mentally retarded people, then you are a conservative on capital punishment.

Moderates are not people who average out on the issues, they are people who don't have extreme views. They may still, however, firmly believe in the positions they take.

moderate is the last word ill used for you nothing in this world is totally true and I'm not defending nobody with this but i really think you have to be open to every thing and don't believe anything until you hear and observe different points of view make your own opinion and after that still give a little space for doubt and remember no body have the absolute truth

Read this story...... It's a children's story that you might remember.

If you support the position of LRH, you tend to the right. If you support the others, the left.

If you see both sides, your in the middle of the road and about to get run over.

Being moderate doesn't mean one doesn't have firm beliefs, neverthless, it sounds like you are an Independent.

A moderate is just someone who doesn't fall entirely to the left or right. It doesn't mean that your views aren't as strong.

you are you... you know what you are for and are against, and I would consider being on both sides of the spectrum in that way makes you Independent.
