I'm tired for school everyday and dont feel like working because I am up so late doing homework everynight. Do this, organize that, blah blah blah. Its so annoying and I dont feel like I'm even learning anything from this stupid busywork. I'd be more rested and happier to go to school without it. Why the hell do teachers give so much of it? I'd prefer not to have any at all, unless its essential like studying or reviewing math. Too bad 99% of homework is useless trash we'll never use...

Well after 7.5 hours of school and work all day I think my brain has had enough. The work I get has nothing to do with what we did in class and I'll just forget about this information in two days.

Homework is supposed to be practice and should be something that you can do without help. I also dislike it when teachers give homework that is so hard that no one at home can help the you. Your attitude about substitute teachers is abysmal, like they are not human. If you don't get a good grade, why are you blaming it on other people? If you have been sitting through the lesson, then you should have a good idea about what will be on the test. I know this is radical thinking, but have you ever thought of studying something that you need practice to do, but is not homework? You are responsible for your own learning and you shouldn't depend on a teacher to tell you what you need to study, because with 6-8 classes, they cannot know the weakness of every single student. You know what you don't understand, so go on the 'Net and find out how to do what you are having trouble with. Unbelievably, the universe does not revolve around you and with your lack of compassion for other people, including teachers and substitutes, you have not moved on from a childlike self-centered person, to an empathetic and understanding person. I know of a lot of teenagers who are compassionate and have some knowledge of the world beside their own personal sphere. I admire them because they are starting to understand that the world does not revolve around them. I am not trying to be hurtful, but you should know that your are coming across as self-centered and lacking in understanding of other people.

Because we are really mean people.
Sorry, but you have a lot of stuff to learn and so little time to learn it in. Do your homework and you will make better grades.
If you don't understand something in your homework, ask your teacher the next day. Be sure to write your question down the night before so you don't forget it.
And don't copy a friend's homework. That prevents you from learning and will lower your grade when you take tests.
What you need to work on is how to get your homework done faster so you can get more sleep.

Homework keeps your brain busy. If you don't see the point of an assignment, you should by all means politely ask your teacher the objective of the homework. It's difficult trying to teach everything in such a short school year and so having kids come to class prepared for the school day helps things flow. That way you can move on quickly and still have time to give individual attention to those who didn't fully understand that day's lesson.

I agree with you on so many levels but this is why...The new law of no student left behind has given the teachers a curriculum they can't meet in 8 hrs. They are under the gun to teach kids so much of this and that..that they can't.They send it home with the hopes that on the almighty TCAP that their school may actually have a decent budget to work with.

Some of it yes you wouldn't but you can use a lot of it depending on what field you wanna go into. Homework sucks but it's gotta be done if you wanna get out of school one day. Try doing it earlier on so you get it out of the way. always works for me and i have tons of time left over to hang w/ friends. Good Luck!

I don't know about grade school, but this is definitely an issue at most colleges and universities. Seems like every instructor thinks that their class is the only class you are signed up with for the semester. I have at times taken issue with it to no avail. More of an issue than that, is that most of what they assign you to do isn't even covered on their tests.

They're trying to cover their own butts and get you prepared for all those standardized tests. Their jobs depend on whether you pass. Also, politicians who never took one education class keep adding more and more standards that they have to teach to. I know, YA is much more fun, isn't it?

a college professor once told me this...
'why is it that here in America, we expect the very best for the money that we pay...for instance, when we buy a car we want the best for the money that we pay...same goes for a new house, or clothing, or electronics...but, why is this not so of our education?... we go to college...we pay good money, and yet we want as little homework as possible...we are asking for as little education for our money as possible'...
if you are in public school and the tuition is free, then think of what you are complaining about...
